Hot 107.9 leaned into a younger, more urban contemporary sound with a heavier focus on hip-hop and current hits, while V-103 stuck with a broader R&B and adult urban mix. It’s like they both play great music, but one’s for the late-night party crowd and the other’s for the weekend cookout.

Hot 107.9 went all in on the crunk and trap movement early, way before V-103 fully embraced that shift. V-103 was always the R&B legacy station with some hip-hop, but WHTA made itself the go-to for hardcore Atlanta street rap and the newest mixtape cuts. I gotta correct myself a little-it wasn't just about being younger, it was about being edgier and more directly tied to the local scene, while V-103 stayed safer for the mainstream adult crowd.
