Back in the 1990s and early 2000s, WSB was the go-to source during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Park bombing, where people sat glued to their radios for updates. Also, during severe ice storms and tornado outbreaks that crippled Atlanta, that station kept folks sane when the power was out and cell towers were down.

"Roll with the changes, 'til the highway ends," and when the highway truly did, WSB was the steady voice through the chaos. I remember the great Atlanta flood of 2009, when the city turned into a maze of washed-out roads and stranded cars-listeners called in for hours, and we were the only lifeline for road closures and shelter locations. Then there was the 2014 ice storm, when the whole metro shut down and people slept in their cars on the interstates; our traffic reports were the only thing keeping folks from losing their minds.

Dropped everything during the 2008 tornado that tore through downtown Atlanta, when the MARTA station flooded and the Georgia Dome's roof got shredded. People were huddled in hallways, and we were the only ones with live reports on which streets were impassable. Same goes for the 2017 I-85 bridge collapse, when that massive fire shut down the whole connector for weeks, and every driver in the city was tuned in for detours and chaos updates.
