Comedians were essentially the fuel for the engine of Bob & Tom's show. They provided instant, on-demand bits and character voices that kept the pace fast and unpredictable, which is exactly what you need in morning drive to cut through the noise. Without them, the whole thing would've just been a couple of guys talking about their weekends.

Comedians were the spice rack in that whole Bob & Tom kitchen, not just the main course. They'd drop in with those wild characters and pre-recorded sketches that broke up the chat, giving the show a unpredictable, vaudeville-like feel you just don't get from today's scripted, sanitized radio. It was like having a bunch of funny buddies hanging out in the studio, ready to derail any serious conversation with a quick joke or an impersonation, keeping it loose and real.
